ENGLISH IVY
A collection of Sterling Silver jewellery and sculpture inspired by English Ivy, created during the Covid-19 pandemic whilst isolating at home.
Danniella created the entirety of the English Ivy collection during the initial Covid-19 lockdown as a way to keep herself occupied whilst isolating at home. The idea came to her whilst standing outside her front door participating in the ‘Clap for Our Carers’. She noticed the beauty in the English Ivy growing up the front of her house. English Ivy is a very resilient evergreen plant which continues to grow even in the toughest conditions; this inspired her to do the same during the pandemic; she didn’t let it stop her making and just adapted and continued to grow.
Danniella’s usual silver suppliers were shut due to the lockdown, therefore she set herself the challenge of creating work using the offcuts of silver she had been collecting over the previous year. This is why the collection is predominantly jewellery unlike the sculptures she is best known for creating.

The latest piece in the English Ivy Collection which Danniella created, just before moving to Spain, was the ‘Climbing Ivy Sculpture’.
Once the bullion dealers re-opened Danniella decided to create a sculpture to complete the English Ivy Collection. “To me, creating this piece shows the progression of getting through the pandemic and adapting to our surroundings and conditions.”
The silver Ivy in this sculpture is ‘climbing’ up a piece of Pine wood to pay homage to Danniella’s home town where she spent the entirety of the initial lockdown. She lived on the doorstep of Cannock Chase, 26 square miles of forest, predominantly made up of pine trees.
The Climbing Ivy Sculpture has the Rainbow logo mark created by the Birmingham Assay office to raise funds for the NHS during the Covid-19 pandemic along with the full UK Sterling Silver hallmark.
